Annual Rivanna River downriver canoe & kayak race in Charlottesville, VA. The downriver race will follow the same schedule as previous years… 6.2-mile downriver race.
Where? Paddlers assemble at registration/start line in Brook Hill Park under the Route 29 bridge north of Charlottesville (just north of the DoubleTree Hotel/Sam’s Club on the upstream side of the bridge off Rio Mills Road.) Join us for the 17th Annual Rivanna River Race: an exciting downriver canoe & kayak race that runs 6.8-miles from Brook Hill River Park to the Rivanna River Company, just south of Free Bridge, and the site of this year’s Rivanna RiverFest Celebration.

All competitors must pre-register – there will be no in-person registration!  See the following link for more information, past results and  registration.

Parking and Shuttle

The Rivanna River Company will operate a free shuttle for racers prior to each race heat from their shop (race finish line) to Brook Hill River Park (race start). There are a limited number of seats available on the shuttles, so please sign up early!

Participants using the RRC shuttle can also have their personal boat shuttled with them for an additional $5. The Rivanna River Company is not responsible for any damage to personal watercraft. Any participant who does not want their boat on the shuttle (or if all the spots are already reserved) must drop it at Brook Hill River Park prior to meeting at RRC for the shuttle. You can reserve space on the shuttle for yourself, your boat or both on the “Race” tab, using the “Shuttle to Race Start.”

Another option for race day is parking a car at Brook Hill River park. We will have a limited number of spots available for racers, which can be reserved on the “Race” tab. You will be responsible for shuttling yourself back to Brook Hill River Park at the end of the race if you choose this option.
